Why does everyone keep saying OpenAI's o1 is so much better than Claude?
I don't understand.
Anecdotally, myself and every engineer I know has transitioned over the last 6 months from never using Claude and it being discussed as unusable (relative to GPT 4o) to everyone now using Claude while ChatGPT (specifically o1-preview) increasingly feels like it has become unusable for coding. 3.5 Sonnet seems to have been the big turning point.
Yet, all I see online is about how o1 is such an insane step forwards. I just don't see or feel it - in fact actually I vehemently disagree.
Would love to hear what you use and if that's changed at all - and if so, why so.
Sincerely, baffled
Because comparing these models is way too difficult for a single person to do objectively with just their own brain. So opinions vary. And Claude 3.5 still does pretty dumb things when it comes to coding.
And OpenAI still have better marketing, market share and much more public attention on their products than Anthropic.
Yea, at this point I just assume everyone I see online gushing about OpenAI is being paid to do so
I feel ChatGPT is going back to its old ways. Getting lazy again. Anyone else noticed that? Where it would put (rest of code goes here) type replies.
Yea, that tracks. It's wack too because it's affecting the products it's in - like Cursor. It'll make a one-line change in a file but replace every other line in the file with *leave the rest unchanged*. first world problems ig but still
